I'm still beating Raidou's statistics, but the margin is, uh, much slimmer this time. Still. If I die any time in the future, it's gonna be of boredom. Apparently ANBU don't get the really hot nurses. What happened to the perks of the job?

Genma, Raidou, thanks. I'm kinda fuzzy 'bout some things there, but I do know what you did for us me. I owe you.

Had one chakra healing session this morning, and get another this afternoon. Get released this evening, if all goes well. There's one perk to being ANBU, I guess. Medics aren't so stingy with their chakra. (Course, they agreed with me it'd be an awful shame to let my face scar.)

In the meantime, though, I got hours in bed and nothing to do. Sleeping gets kinda boring after three days. And they won't let me have coffe or pie or anything worth eating. Kotetsu and Kakashi were both right to be suspicious. Sugar-free green jello is clearly at the center of Water Country's latest terrorist scheme. I think my morale's slipped 20 points already, and I barely tasted the stuff!

Kakashi was gone when I woke up this morning. Did anyone see him leave the hospital? Did he get his clothes back? Do you have pictures?

No coffee or sugar? Don't you know, that's how they keep you from wanting to return. It's like punishment: you get hurt, they make you miserable. I think they're hoping it'll keep you from getting hurt again!

If I try and smuggle food in around lunchtime, think you'll be awake? I can't promise it'll work. Nurses have a sixth sense about these things, I'm telling you...

Have you checked the male to female ratio? If it's more women, maybe people are using this no sugar/caffeine thing like a crash diet.

...How often are you in the hospital? You know, you might be freakishly large, but I don't mean fat. It's okay for guys to weigh a little more. Eating is good for you! Don't starve to death, Ryouma!

Somehow, being totally awake for me means a lot less when I imagine you'd be totally awake for any breathing being who walked into your room to entertain you...! And I don't think I can manage coffee. Rumor has it you knocked yourself into a soldier pill overdose (crotchflea), and giving you caffeine might cause my early death-by-nurse. Sorry, pup! Sure you don't want lunch?

	I'm pretty sure there's more shinobi than kunoichi in the hospital. Probably something to do with more shinobi in general, and a greater talent for getting our heads bashed in. But I don't make a habit of this, honest! And I totally needed those soldier pills. It's not the overdose that's the problem, it's going off 'em. Right. Of course. Going off them is the problem. Not your kidneys and liver shutting down or your heart eventually going into cardiac arrest from too much chakra, or even burning out your pathways so you can't ever ever ever use chakra again and you go into a coma and DIE. Going off them is the problem. I see the light now.

I'm not sure you deserve lunch after that inane statement...

(Early lunch or late lunch? I promised my brats I'd pick them from the Academy, and it's a half day.)

(Hey, I've known some five-year-olds. Mostly pickpockets. You'd be surprised how much you can get away with when you're three feet tall and people think you're cute. Pretty sure I can handle anything your punk can throw at me.)

Seriously, that jello's fit to kill. It makes me depressed just thinking about it.

... Say, want some company? Ryuichi's all into sparring but sometimes you gotta take a break from saying hi to the floor with your face. And it's nice to talk to what appears to be the only other rookie around 'sides Ryuichi. Who's nice and all, but a little touched in the head.

	I thought it was kinda obvious. Pictures of you slinking down the streets in broad daylight, in a hospital gown that matches your eyes, would entertain me for years. You think a helmet would mess with your pirate hat? Maybe you could get a plated pirate hat. They'd probably let you wear it if you called it armour. Or said it was a secret weapon.

Thicker gloves? Tempting. But the Quartermaster might do something worse than glare if I ask him for specially made gloves on top of everything else. He already doesn't like replacing them once a month.

Of course, that alone might be worth it...

I'm sure I could think of some jutsu that would call for a plated pirate hat. Maybe it could turn into a giant shuriken, or something. But I'm not sure it'd match the uniform. Might have to wait until I take up a life of piracy for real.

I'm sure I could come down with you and ask the Quartermaster about the hat, though. By the time I'm done, he might be happy just to give you specialty gloves.
