I'm startin' to think you really don't care after all. How come I had to hear it from Reiko down at the mission desk that Wednesday was your birthday? How come I didn't get invited? ~~Well, disregarding the fact that I been outta Konoha for the last week.~~

I'd've thought you'd be holding up the hallway, extorting presents out of everyone trying to get by.

I'm...sorry. I haven't been trying to avoid you. Left your apartment about 0600 Saturday morning, and they hauled me up with a mission summons at 1300. I've been in Tea Country for the past six days. Just got back this morning.

Reiko told me Sadao killed himself the day after I left.

Um. Anyway. Hope you're doing well, and, uh... You owe me coffee. Or something.

You skipped town to avoid my birthday. I was deeply hurt. In fact I considered suicide, but luckily for me the ghost of Yondaime appeared to me as I sat atop his head, preparing to cast myself off, and talked me out of it.

So my birthday kind of sucked, and it was all your fault. With a suitable gift and some extensive groveling, you might be able to make it up to me. You gonna come through with that pie?

B-rank guard mission for some diplomat heading to Tea Country and back. I dunno why they pulled me for it; pair of chuunin could've done as well. Monday works good for me.

But--see, if they wanted me punished, sending me on a B-rank mission's not the way to do it. I was ~~pretty~~ kinda worried for a bit there Saturday afternoon, but guard duty? C'mon, that's not a slap on the wrist; that's an all-expenses paid vacation, just with no time off and nowhere to go.

I'm... Just, when Reiko was filling me in on all the news of the week... Kinda got a feeling someone wanted me not here more than they wanted me out there.
